Mira Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 August 2026 · Journaling companion
The short version: this app keeps your data on your device. We run no servers, we have no account system, and no personal information about you ever reaches us.
What we collect
Nothing. Everything you enter stays on your iPhone or iPad. There is no account, no login, no server of ours, and nothing is uploaded to us. We cannot see your data because it never reaches us.
Your journal entries
What you write is private to your device. Entries are never uploaded, never used to train any model, and never read by us or anyone else.
How the AI works
The app's AI features run on your device using Apple Intelligence (Apple's on-device Foundation Models). Your text is processed locally on your iPhone or iPad and is not sent to us, to Apple's servers, or to any third-party AI provider. If Apple Intelligence is unavailable on your device, the app falls back to a simple local algorithm that also runs entirely on-device. Responses are generated by software, not by a person, and can be wrong.
Mira is not a therapist
Mira is a journaling tool, not a medical device, and not a substitute for professional mental health care, diagnosis, or treatment. Its reflections are generated automatically and may be inaccurate. If you are struggling, please talk to a qualified professional. If you are in crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line: in the US and Canada call or text 988; in the UK and Ireland call 116 123 (Samaritans); elsewhere see findahelpline.com.
Our self-harm response protocol
If what you write suggests suicidal thoughts or self-harm, Mira does not attempt to counsel you. It stops its normal reflection and shows crisis resources for your region instead. This detection runs entirely on your device, and the fact that it triggered is never recorded, reported, or transmitted anywhere.
Reminders
If you turn on reminders, they are scheduled locally by iOS on your device. No reminder content passes through any server.
How purchases work
Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your name, payment card, or billing address. Apple tells the app only whether a purchase is currently active. You can view, change, or cancel a subscription at any time in iOS Settings under your Apple Account, and cancelling takes no more steps than subscribing did.
Tracking and advertising
No analytics, no advertising, no advertising identifier, no tracking pixels, no third-party SDKs that profile you, and no data brokers. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not engage in cross-context behavioural advertising.
Deleting your data
Because your data lives on your own device, you are always in control of it. You can delete individual items inside the app, or delete the app itself, which removes its data from your device. There is no account for us to delete because there is no account. If the app syncs through your iCloud, deleting the item on one device removes it from the others, and you can remove the app's iCloud data in iOS Settings under your Apple Account.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Because no personal information reaches us from any user, there is no children's data for us to hold, disclose, or delete. Parents with questions can contact us at the address below.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR in Europe and the UK, and the CCPA in California, give you rights to access, correct, delete, and port your personal information, and to object to its sale. We can honour all of these trivially: we hold no personal information about you at all, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, sell, or hand over. Your data is already in your hands, on your device. We do not sell or share personal information, and never have. If you want to exercise a right or simply ask what we hold, write to us and we will answer within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version is posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
